Eucharist
We who are members of the Body of Christ by our baptism are given the gift of receiving the real presence of the Son of God, Christ’s Body and Blood each time we participate in Mass, the Eucharistic liturgy.
If you are homebound and cannot come to Mass, but wish to receive Communion, please call the parish office at (317) 257-2266 to request a visit from a Communion minister.
If you are an adult who has not received First Communion as a child and wish to receive it now, please contact Father Pat or Kaitlyn Blandford, Director of Evangelization & Discipleship, through the parish office at (317) 257-2266
First Communion
First Communion preparation usually happens in the second grade year for all parish children. We recognize that parents are the primary educators of the faith. Therefore, parents will receive materials to prepare their child at home. This learning is reinforced in class, whether through the religion class at Immaculate Heart of Mary School or the Sunday Family Faith program. In addition to home and classroom preparation, parents and children attend a retreat. First Communion is celebrated after Easter, on the last Saturday of April.
Baptism is required prior to reception of communion. Therefore, if your child has not been baptized s/he will need to also prepare for Baptism. Please contact our DED [email protected] to arrange that.
First Reconciliation is required prior to celebrating First Communion. Therefore, during the first semester of second grade, all children will prepare for this sacrament in the same way as for First Communion.
The fee of $75 per child covers both the reconciliation and communion textbooks, the retreat, the group picture and all other materials used to support your child’s preparation for these two sacraments.
(Please Note: If you are enrolling in Sunday Family Faith please do not fill out this form. The Sunday Family Faith Registration Form has this registration already embedded in it.)
