Parish Ministries
Art & Environment
The Art and Environment ministry has been active at Immaculate Heart of Mary parish for many years. The purpose of this ministry is to enhance the church area environment, primarily for weekend liturgies and liturgical seasons.
This includes maintaining the plants, candles, flowers, altar cloths and other implements used in the celebrations. Creative effort is made toward ensuring that the environment for worship is aesthetically pleasing and in support of the church. The time commitment is flexible and you do not need to be an artist. Meetings are called on an “as needed” basis depending on proximity to major holidays.
If interested in joining the Arts and Environment Ministry please contact Karen Winternheimer at [email protected].
Baptismal Sponsor Couples
Sponsors support expectant parents by expressing the sacrament as the presence of Christ and the beginning of Christian life. Meetings are at 7:30 p.m. on the first Monday of the following months: February, April, June, August, October and December (you are only responsible for one of those meetings). For more information please contact Cindy & Glenn Harkness at 317-921-9897 or via email at [email protected]. To register for a class please call the Parish Office 317-257-2266.

Engaged couples meet a minimum of 2 times with their sponsor couples to discuss results of the FOCCUS survey. Sponsor couples are selected by the pastor. Family Life & Faith Formation Commission
The mission of the Faith Formation ministry is to support each parishioner at any point in his or her spiritual journey as well as to offer a channel through which each parishioner can know God.
Faith Formation Commission Elections are held in the Spring. Call the parish office if you would like to submit your name as a candidate for the Commission.
Prayer Chain
Requests are received from the parish office or from family members. Prayer requests are not limited to parishioners. The process differs from the list printed in the parish bulletin, as most of these requests require immediate attention, which is possible through e-mail. If you are interested in joining the group or if you have a prayer request to make, contact Ellen Healey, [email protected], 317-253-2086 or Gerry Koors 317-251-2562.
