Bishop’s Bash 2016

August 25, 2016 Uncategorized

Time to celebrate the young adult community in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis!

Archbishop Tobin has graciously invited us to continue the tradition of ‘bashing-it-up’, September 25, 2016 for Mass, dinner, games, live music, and more!  ALL young adults are invited (ages 18-35). In the past years, hundreds of young adults attended this event.  It is a great opportunity to spend time with the archbishop as well as meet the different groups of young adults from all over the central and southern Indiana!

Time and Location: Mass begins at 4pm at Sts. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Indianapolis. Followed by party, dinner, games, and live music in The Catholic Center parking lot just across Meridian street from the Cathedral. We will have 5 or 6 food trucks coming to us where you can buy what you’d like for dinner! We’ll have a tent with tables and stage for some jams. There will be a few games and opportunities to see what’s going on in Young Adult and College Campus Ministry. Bring friends and family, event is free and open to all!

Healthy Haughville Health Fair Service Day

June 16, 2016 Uncategorized

SAVE THE DATE!! Healthy Haughville is back again this summer, and we would love your help! The event this year is on Saturday, July 16th, from 9-11:30 a.m. This is a great way to connect with the communities of both St. Anthony and Haughville by helping with health screenings, passing out school supplies, books and lots more. If you’ve helped in the past, we’d love to see you again, if you haven’t been able to, we would love to have you! And of course, there will be an opportunity to donate school supplies and hygiene products that will be passed out at the health fair. Please email Sheila McNelis [email protected] or Jennifer Kappes [email protected] with any questions or to volunteer. We are looking forward to another successful health fair!

School supply donations

If you want to help kids from St. Anthony be ready for school! Help us fill as many backpacks as we can for the students. Pick up a tag for a St. Anthony student on the board at the front of the Church. Purchase the items listed on the tag and return by Sunday, July 10th to the designated bins located in the Church entryway off of Central Avenue. On Saturday, July 16th, we will distribute these during our annual outreach day, Healthy Haughville. This initiative will ensure the students arrive at school with a full backpack. Thanks in advance for your generous support! Please contact [email protected] with any questions.

United Catholic Appeal Goal Reached

May 02, 2016 Uncategorized

We have good news! IHM reached 100% of its goal of pledged support for the United Catholic Appeal that was held last Fall.  You might remember when we spoke about this from the pulpit, urging parishioners from our beloved parish to participate in this appeal.

All pledges and donations go directly to the work of many services provided throughout our large archdiocese, serving thousands of families and individuals, regardless of faith.  Charitable giving is about love, expressing love for others.  We cannot always do all the things we would like to do in our hearts; volunteer in soup kitchens, offer services to some of our Catholic social service agencies, be a mentor to kids who need a friend to lean on.  But by our charitable dollars, we are assured that these services are there, are meeting these needs, and that is critical!  In that way, we are meeting the need and being the servant that the gospels ask of us.

Please take a minute to enjoy the video below…it provides a wonderful overview of the communities UCA is serving. Thank you so much for your generosity!

Year of Mercy

Year of Mercy logo

Year of Mercy – The scene is captured within the madoria, the shape of an almond, a figure quite important in the early and medieval iconography, for it calls to mind the two natures of Christ, divine and human. The three concentric ovals, with colors progressively lighter as we move outward, suggest the movement of Christ who carries humanity out of the night of sin and death. Conversely, the depth of the darker color suggests the impenetrability of the love of the Father who forgives all.
