Starting in Lent 2009, we asked all IHM groups to commit to at least one Habit of Compassion intended to increase awareness, support, or prayers for our brothers and sisters in need. This program is summarized in a letter that was sent to all IHM Ministry Leaders on Ash Wednesday, along with a list of suggested Habits. The goal of this effort is to encourage every facet of our IHM community - not just those involved with outreach ministries - to reflect on, pray for, support or reach out to the poor on a regular basis. Click Here to read the letter Thank you to the groups that have already committed to establishing a Habit of Compassion!! 20% of parish groups are on board! 2010 Commitments Women's CRHP Team 12 (Trinda Metzger) - We commit to gathering once per year for the purpose of sharing fellowship and also to collect women's toiletry items for donation to a local food pantry. School Commission (Susan Weber) - We commit to gathering donations of school supplies at our monthly meetings for donation to Schools on Wheels. 2009 Commitments Pastoral Council (Ray Kennedy) - We commit to bringing food and toiletry items to our meetings for donating to the Food Cart. We also plan to begin our annual strategic planning meeting with a few hours of volunteer work as a group. Illuminations (Martha Steinkamp) - We commit to donating 12.5% of net proceeds from our fundraiser to the IHM Mission Fund to support ministries that serve the marginalized. PLANNING NOW FOR THE NEXT ADULT TRIP, JANUARY 23-30TH, 2011. "There is always room for one more." This is the motto of Sister Maria Rosa Leggol of Honduras, whose life's work has been dedicated to providing shelter, food, and an education for children of Honduras; those who are mired in poverty, or are neglected, abandoned, or orphaned. IHM began supporting this mission, named Sociedad Amigos de Los Ninos (SAN), in 2000 as part of a global outreach.

JustReads
JustReads is an intentional reading community that meets every other month to discuss practical and inspirational books that offer ideas and resources for living as Christ in this world. For more information, please contact Kathy Slaughter, 670-8200.
Our next meeting will be Monday, October 25th, at 7:30pm at IHM, in the Teen Room. The book is Have a Little Faith, by Mitch Albom, author of Tuesdays with Morrie, which explores Mitch's true-story interaction with a dying Rabbi and an African-American preacher. Please join us!
Did your religious formation essentially stop with confirmation in your teen years? Are you ready to encounter your faith and the Church’s social mission through adult eyes and with adult experiences as your lens? If so, then JustFaith can help you take that next step. JustFaith is a thirty-week program that uses books, videos, conversations about the most difficult topics of the day, face-to-face encounters with the poor, and an exploration of what the Christian tradition says about addressing injustice in our world. If you're interested, JustFaith may start in the fall of 2010. Please contact Kathy Slaughter @ 670-8200 for more info.
