Dear IHM,
As we kick-off our 2010 Pastoral Council "session," I would like to thank Ray Kennedy for his leadership as president and Nancy Curliss and Cindy Free for their many contributions to the council. Thank you!
I would also like to extend a very warm welcome to Dave Stevens, Bev Rella and Anne Becker who joined the Council in January. I look forward to working closely with them over the coming years.
In addition to supporting the important work that our Commissions lead, we have several priorities we will address this year. We will
- Strengthen communication across the parish;
- Hold our first parish-wide elections this spring;
- Initiate a 5-year strategic planning exercise;
- Plan for our physical space beyond our beautiful new addition; and
- Work to complete the capital campaign that gave rise to that new space.
If you have an interest in getting involved in any of this work, please let one of us know. Contact me, one of the Commission Chair-persons (listed under About Pastoral Council) or Tom Schulte, Stewardship Chair. Immaculate Heart of Mary is a vibrant Catholic community because of our engaged and committed parishioners.
I look forward to working with you as we continue to build Christ’s body on earth at Immaculate Heart.
Peace.
Joe Meyer

Pastoral Council Meeting Minutes
June 16, 2010, 7:00 p.m.
Attendees
Anne Becker, Pam Bundy, Penny Hughes, Joe Meyer, Matt McLaughlin, Bev Rella, Duane Schmitz, Mike Semler, Larry Dougherty and Deb Condon.
Opening Prayer – Penny Hughes
Administrative – Joe Meyer
The minutes from the May meeting were approved when a quorum was present. Joe discussed Pastoral Council officer elections and appointments. Duane Schmitz and Jason Konesco were elected to the Council and Mike Semler was appointed to serve the balance of a recent vacancy. Dave Stevens is President, Duane Schmitz is the President-Elect and Anne Becker is the Council Secretary. Jason Konesco heads up the Communications Committee, Amy Shaffer is the School Commission representative, Pam Bundy represents Family Life and Faith Formation and Larry Dougherty represents the Outreach Commission. Additionally, Tom Schulte and Clark Millman continue, respectively, in their role as head of the Stewardship Commission head of the Finance Committee.
Communication Committee – Adam Weber
Adam Weber provided the Council with an update regarding the Communications Committee and the current campus network and technology issues. He discussed both the acute issues that have been addressed as well as the long-term vision for the campus and the resources needed to achieve the long term goals. He also noted that the majority of anticipated costs are associated with the school technology needs. The funding strategy for the long-term plan was briefly touched upon as well.
Finance Committee – Clark Millman
For the first eleven months, the parish is substantially on budget, with slight variations between the church and school budgets. The current project is to conclude the capital campaign. A few significant pledges are outstanding, and although most are being paid, the late/uncollectable issue is being addressed by the Committee. Additionally the parish is initiating an outreach effort to receive new pledges to the capital campaign from new parishioners or those parishioners who have not yet made a pledge.
Special Events Committee – Mike Semler
Mike provided an update regarding the parish’s fall fest which is in its second year. Additionally he discussed changes to the format to increase revenues including sponsorship and restaurant booths. Additional ideas are also being considered.
Planning -- Bev Rella
Bev provided both an update and overview of the strategic planning meeting for the Council. Others from the parish and school staffs will attend the session. Possible September dates were discussed as well as a possible moderator and meeting format.
Adjourn
Joe Meyer suggested the Council adjourn. After motion duly made and seconded, the Council adjourned.
